RBTC Job Board

The Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) is pleased to announce the launch of their new job board. Ever innovative, RBTC continually iterates on its work to promote the growth of the Roanoke Blacksburg technology community. The job board is the latest update in a series of new offerings designed to cultivate powerful connections that lead to growth and success.

“We wanted to create an accurate, easy-to-use way for employers and job seekers in the technology and biotechnology spheres to connect,” said RBTC Director Taylor Spellman. “Our new job board offers improved features and benefits to better serve the Roanoke-Blacksburg innovation ecosystem and facilitate those connections.”

Job Board Features Improved Usability and Accuracy

Online job boards are notoriously inaccurate, creating confusion for job seekers and frustration for employers who receive applications ill-matched to their open positions. The trouble originates with commonly used tech that pulls information from the web and auto-populates postings, resulting in accuracy errors.

RBTC seeks to address this pain point by offering a highly usable job board for two types of users: employers and job seekers. Employers within the RBTC membership can create profiles and post open positions in their company. Posts expire after 30 days unless renewed, ensuring information stays current.

Anyone can search for job, including those not currently within the RBTC membership. For job seekers, there are opportunities to create a profile, post current resumes, and search available jobs. The built-in automated email notifications for both types of users make it easy to update resumes, stay on top of job listings, and review applications, all with a click.

Facilitating Connections Between Tech Companies and Tech Talent

The RBTC job board will accelerate creative collaboration by providing a platform where tech companies can easily find the right person with the right skills. But it will also engender something that’s more difficult to quantify in an algorithm: trust. The added personal touch ensures that all information stays current and correct. Employers will see more qualified candidates in their inboxes and job seekers can feel confident that the jobs they apply for are real and accurately represented.

Registered employers will also have expanded visibility into their employee pool compared to similar job boards. The RBTC portal allows employers to search through resumes (marked “Public” by the job seekers) to take recruiting into their own hands.

“We look forward to seeing how the job board improves the job-seeking and hiring process within our innovation ecosystem,” Spellman said.

Robust Features for Job Seekers

Job boards are only as good as the talent they attract. RBTC has ensured that job seekers will have extensive options to make their hunt for a good fit as simple as possible. Searching for jobs can be done with keywords, as well as through identifying factors like industry, role, and location.

Job seekers will also be able to upload and store multiple resumes, which they can make public or private. The job board’s profile system for both applicants and employers will enable job seekers to vet companies as they apply, too.

RBTC has made it easy to start utilizing the newest resource in the RBTC ecosystem. RBTC member companies interested in advertising their open positions can get started by creating an employer profile and begin posting jobs right away. Similarly, job seekers can create a profile, upload resumes and begin browsing real, local, and open positions regardless of RBTC membership status. Employers interested in taking advantage of this and other benefits of membership are encouraged to visit the RBTC website or contact RBTC Director Taylor Spellman at taylor.spellman@rbtc.tech for more information.
