The Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) partnership between Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia, Carilion Clinic, and Inova Health System is now accepting applications for its 12-month Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies Program grants.
Locally, the CTSA partners administer the grants through the Integrated Translational Health Research Institute of Virginia (iTHRIV). Applications from scientists and clinical professionals from any iTHRIV institution are due by Oct. 21, 2019. This program is designed to help researchers transition from early stage seed grants and proof-of-concept studies to translational research and clinical application.
Successful applicants will receive funding starting in February, 2020. Single-institution teams may request up to $25,000 in direct costs, and multi-institution teams may request up to $50,000 in direct costs. No indirect costs are provided. Translational or clinical projects that involve data science or innovative analytical approaches and involve collaborations across iTHRIV partner institutions are encouraged. This is the second of five annual opportunities to apply for Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies grants, provided through the $23 million CTSA grant awarded by the National Institutes of Health.
iTHRIV aims to promote interdisciplinary research projects that help bring scientific innovations from the lab into clinical practice. iTHRIV also strives to address social equity, with the goal of implementing research that will benefit underserved populations across Virginia. The institute is supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health, through award number UL1TR003015.
